Recently, ArcelorMittal SA announced that it had signed a €1.1 billion project with the governments of Belgium and Flanders to build a 2.5 million-tonne direct reduced iron plant in Ghent and two new electric vehicles furnaces. The action is expected to reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by 3.9M tonnes per year by 2030.
